Track Stuff
Starting Flag
The Mandatory Prologue
All of these tracks are available for NASCAR Racing 2003 (variously known on the net as NR2003 or NR2K3). Thank God there are still car painters, modders, track designers and online racers who still use and work on this game. Think it's no longer big? Read this article at Nascar.com. Of course all of the real tracks will be here so this is for fans in general as well as the gamers. And the tracks themselves should be similar across platforms in so far as they exist in other programs.
I presume there are others like myself who tried NASCAR SimRacing (the supposed EA replacement for the Papyrus game)—and found it wanting. I don’t believe I was ever even able to finish a race using that travesty. The program setup itself was a mess; I had to disable nearly every running process just to get it running (this was on a new computer that gamed well with everything from Far Cry to Half Life). At any rate I put it aside and it has never been touched again. It’s also for sale cheap if anyone is interested. Despite wishing for updates to the Papy version (such as freezing the race at yellow flags and eliminating the race back to the start-finish line) I cannot and will not abandon this game. I’m just not convinced that there are any better simulations out there.
Plea For Help
Nothing found here is meant to be the final word on NR2003 tracks and there are doubtless many that need to be included. As it continues to be a work in progress, I listen to any suggestions for improvements or additions. I am also accepting submissions now for track articles and features. The guidelines are extremely loose: no specific format is required. You may write about any track--even if I've already used it in a feature. Screenshots and innovations are welcome. You will be given a byline and proper creds for your impressions, driving experiences, additional data that needs to be included, evaluations and even some constructive criticisms. But NO slamming: nothing mean-spirited will be included on this site. (Unless it's Radt--you know of course that he may take a poke at you) -;). My Usage Notes attempt to explain where I'm going and, as I indicate on the Track List page, I'm looking to update all of the original listings with author info, etc.
That's It?
That's all I got. You can see which tracks are included in any single issue by using the Feature Tracks link. For the complete tracks list use the Tracks List link of course. And for a complete explanation of my bobbles and conventions see the Usage Notes. Enjoy!
