On Track Ratings
I've been asked about rating tracks, i.e. would I? I really don't think I would want to go there. People have invested too much time and have given too much of themselves for me to slam anyone. I like them all. Well there are a few goofs that I would slam on principal but even those have their redeeming moments or entertainment value. I think some may have merely been released prematurely or specifically as a goof.
Track Ratings Criteria
I suppose if I were to rate tracks I would use some sort of criteria based on the following:
- Uniqueness/Individuality
- Driveability
- Adaptibilty to cross-genres (Nascar, truck, open-wheel...)
- Appearance (the first impression thing)
- Detail (textures and minutia)
- Extras Included (setups, tips, cam views, documentation, etc.)
- Easter Eggs (Hidden surprises, drive-around areas, garage area)
- Feel (realism, etc)
- AI Performance
- Racing enjoyment (3-wide, etc)
Somehow, using the criteria, I'd have to distill the results to a 10-point or maybe 100-point system. All based on my subjective reasoning. No, I think I'd prefer to stay the course: present my findings on a track-by-track basis and let you form your own opinion. I think you should try as many as you can and appreciate each one for what it is. I will try to note in my individual track articles what I find appealing about a track. I may express a preference based on my observations. But there's no substitute for one's own experiences.
I'd Like To See:
A detailed winner's circle at tracks. A place where I could drive my winning car and grab a screenshot. I'm sure they're out there. Seems like I've seen some but I just don't remember. Or maybe a garage area where I can actually drive inside for the same purpose. Possible?
Radt:
So the car owner is going to drive the car into the winner's circle? Is Radt in the photograph anywhere? Is there even any room for Radt with the owner's fat head taking up most of the screen?
