New NR2K3 Tracks:
Release Imminent!
Introducing High-Rise On The Horizon
I don't know what the name means or how it applies to this track--it just came to me while dreaming and I liked the sound. Maybe it has something to do with sight-lines; I was envisioning a road course where spectators could watch several lines of action at once (kind of the way the old Milano track behaved but maybe more pronounced). I saw a spectator level and two different tiers for parallel track lengths. Now I'm thinking I could have gone further and included more tiers for seeing even more of the action. A top level grandstand that can view 4 parallel racing lanes, all descending. On the other side a low grandstand that can view the tracks in ascending order. Before I go any further let me show you the track diagram:
Current Production Stage
The track is currently in Pre-Alpha. Meaning I have the tools and some tutorials and a handful of notes. Alright, I hear you laughing. But if you think it won't happen you don't know me very well. I'm just letting you know now so that in 2 years I can listen to you say "Damn, he did it!". So the question is, will the game still be relevant in two years? It will be for me but that's another discussion. Of course if someone were to beat me to the punch I would allow them to take full credit so bank away you track-hackers.
Talk To The Hand
If you read the Jen Valley article in Feature #5 you saw how imagination can get the best of me at any time. Rattlesnake Point (image here) in the same issue provided me with even more inspiration. Here's the resulting track:
While We're At It...
Just one more. I promise. Roadone International. I see one of those tools that are just hard to find anymore: the venerable double-headed hammer. This hammer has traditionally been a combination ball peen and claw hammer but it's hard to tell from the diagram if it was modeled after a rock hammer (ala Shaw Shank Redemption) or one of those little handyman specials. Here's a minor revision:
Radt:
I'll tell ya now so there's no misunderstanding later: Radt will never, ever, drive The Hand or The Hammers. I might consider The Horizon but I don't suppose there's much chance of that ever being built. You know Ol' Dudley used to be in construction? Journeyman mason but I don't think he likes to pick up the tools that much anymore. I think his construction is mostly on paper and in that vacuum where his brain is supposed to be. He's just all over the place ain't he?
